Vision - Celebrating 10 Years In Business!
October marks a significant milestone for Vision as we’re celebrating 10 years in bespoke luxury home construction and renovation.
To mark this special anniversary, the company is donating £250 to Hospiscare and the same amount to Cancer Research.
These donations come from the heart of our founder, Ross Pollard. Sadly, some of his close friends have needed the services of Hospiscare, and he is keen to support this amazing local service. Without it, so many people wouldn’t have the vital support they need at such a difficult time. He also recognises that Cancer Research is doing incredible work funding scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner, as well as providing cancer information to the public. They are both essential charities.

The Vision journey
Vision was set up in 2014 by Ross after many years specifying and installing high quality kitchens and bathrooms. To start with, he continued his traditional work but was soon asked to get involved with more complex projects including steam rooms and saunas, and the business grew from there.
During Covid when many homeowners decided to make improvements, Vision expanded to take on other work, such as renovating the entire ground floor of a house in Torquay. For another home, in Cowley, the Vision team removed the existing roof enabling a new glass spanning the width of the roof to give stunning views over the city of Exeter.
Over the last 10 years, Vision has completed well over 200 projects of varying size and complexity. For Ross, one of the most memorable was the partial redevelopment of a 14th-century farmhouse in Mid-Devon in 2021; this evolved from an initial conversation about a new bath to the construction of an upper-floor extension with a sumptuously designed spa room, steam room and treatment area, plus a walk-in wardrobe room. The client this room was built for sadly passed away towards the end of this project.

Vision today
Ross is equally proud of a current project just outside Exeter that he and the team have been working on since the summer of 2023. It’s another project that has grown from a fairly low-key initial brief for an ensuite to a major house renovation, with work spanning not just the house but also outside, landscaping the substantial garden to create a really beautiful and social space. The job has provided plenty of challenges for the team but everyone is really pleased with the results – and the client is delighted.
For all Vision’s work, Ross specifies the latest products, from surface materials to intelligent lighting controls and high performance appliances, giving clients the very best options available. He enjoys researching what’s new and special, sourcing clever and stunning products that really make every Vision projects special.

The Vision team
Over the decade Ross has built up a really impressive team of skilled trades. He has worked with tiler Richard Parker for over 20 years, and electrician Sam Andrews for around 17 years. More recent partners and collaborators include site manager Christian Daly. Ross is also committed to encouraging young people into the business. Vision’s first apprentice Arron Mutter was taken on in 2019 and remains very much part of the team. Arron has adapted well to lots of different projects and has learnt skills beyond his original intentions. Vision currently has two more apprentices on board from Exeter College.
While the team are all self-employed (as is usual in our sector), they are regular faces on Vision projects, tried and trusted contributors who bring their skills and talent to the unique requirements of each job, which are all totally bespoke. Ross believes in the power of collaborative working and trust, having a good team around him who know exactly what a particular job needs. His task is to pull it all together and make sure Vision maintains quality in everything we do.

Size matters!
Although Vision has grown over the past 10 years, taking on larger and more complex work, Ross prefers keeping the business at a manageable size. Having just a handful of decent-sized projects on the go means he can always be personally involved.
Along the way, Ross has fully renovated several houses, built his own family home in Exeter and successfully owned and developed a four-plot residential project in Clyst St Mary, Exeter.
“From very humble beginnings in 2014 when it was just me and it was all a bit daunting, to 2024 when I have a great team around me, superb projects to work on and clients who love what I do, well I’d say that is ten years well spent.”
